Cross and trekking bikes – a hybrid compromise between a roadster and MTB – appeared on ground of growing fashion for bicycle touring.
Long distance trips urge for a bicycle which can comfortably carry its rider on various grounds. The construction of cross bike is similar to MTB, but it usually has a handlebar placed higher and 28” wheels, which allows to keep fairly straight body position even during very long rides. Touring usually means carrying some luggage: thus trekking models are equipped with assembled carrier or even a trailer. They are often accesorized also with a full set of tools to provide best security and comfort in the traffic: lights, mudguards or a ring bell.
