Bike Painting – Step by Step

Want to repaint your bike but not sure where to start? Let us help! At Wygodny Rower, we offer professional powder coating for bike frames and metal parts. Just bring us your bike or frame, choose a color from our palette – and we’ll take care of the rest.

Step 1: Drop-off & Cost Estimate

We paint steel and aluminum bike frames and metal components such as handlebars, rims, cranksets, chainrings, and steel chain guards.

You can bring us a fully assembled bike – we’ll disassemble it, prepare it for painting, and reassemble it afterwards.
The service starts at PLN 300 (final pricing depends on the bike’s model and complexity).

Step 2: Preparing Your Bike for Painting

Prefer to prep the bike yourself? No problem!
Here’s how to prepare your frame for powder coating:

  1. The frame must be completely stripped of all components (no cables, housings, or fittings).
Remove cable guides, clips, or any plastic inserts – powder coating requires high heat and may damage them.
Also remove all metal threads or inserts unless they’re meant to be painted.

  2. Remove the crown race from the fork.

  3. If you’d like to protect smaller threaded mounts (e.g. rack mounts, shifter bosses), insert “sacrificial bolts” that can later be removed with a wrench.

Step 3: Sandblasting

Before painting, we remove old paint or signs of rust using sandblasting (for raw steel) or chemical stripping + sandblasting (for aluminum).

Step 4: Powder Coating

Choose a color from the RAL palette. For an additional fee, we offer matte or pearl finishes.

The powder is electrostatically applied to the surface and then cured in a specialized oven at 180°C, forming a durable, high-quality coating.

Step 5: Pickup & Assembly

When your newly painted bike is reassembled, we recommend replacing worn parts and consumables. You’ll receive a detailed quote during drop-off.

Turnaround Time

Most jobs are completed within 14 business days.
For more complex frames, the lead time may be longer.
